Hi! My name is Richard Kaufman, and I'm just beginning to explore my own family's roots on ancestor.com.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this will be of any interest to you, but my father's grandmother, Annie Jagorda, apparently mysteriously left NYC in the early 1900s with her youngest daughter, Anttoinette ("Netty") and her only son Jacob, or Jack. Nobody ever knew why they left! But I'm fairly certain that the Jack Jagorda in this photo is my great uncle, as he's almost a dead ringer for my Dad, Irving, who just turned 88!
Annie Jagorda's daughter Mary is my Dad's mother. She had two sets of twins (boys and girls) and three other sons, for a total of seven kids. Apparently the Jagorda family emigrated to NY from somewhere in Russia, and settled on New York's Lower East Side before moving to the Bronx, where the family grew up and remained until well in the 1950s. Except for this small Jagorda group, the whole family was based in NYC.
If you know of any leads I might pursue to learn more about Jack Jagorda, feel free to share! Of course, I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. I'm a new user of ancestry.com.
Have a nice afternoon!
Richard Kaufman
Richard, I tried to email you several times, but I don't know if you ever received them. Jack Jagorda's name came up in an interview I did several years ago with someone who is now deceased. She mentioned she met a woman in the San Francisco area who married Jack Jagorda after he was divorced from Camille Goldstein. The new wife said she was completely happy and that Jack was terrific. This was contrary to the bad feelings the family had after the divorce. Of course, families are often protective that way. Sorry I don't have any other information to offer. Thank you for sharing what you know. Good luck in your search.
DeleteI believe Jack Jagorda (second husband of Camille Rosenberg Goldstein) was my father's long lost uncle!
ReplyDeleteMy father was born in NYC in 1924, and tells a story of how his grandmother Annie Jagorda mysteriously left NY with her youngest daughter and a son, Jacob (or Jack). This happened long before my dad was born, so he never met his grandmother, aunt or Uncle Jack – or even saw a picture of him until I found this and forwarded it to him!
